Technical Tour - New Acland Mine
The XVI International Congress for Mine Surveying (ISM2016) offers delegates and their guests the opportunity to attend a technical tour at New Acland Mine, North-west of Oakey in Queensland.
For more than a decade, the New Acland open cut coal mine has been a major employer and economic spur to the Darling Downs region in Queensland. Through a leading rehabilitation program, mining lease areas are continually returned to agricultural and conservation uses.
The mine's product has an international reputation as one of the lowest greenhouse gas producing coals in the world. The Acland coal deposit is in the Clarence Moreton Basin within the lower Walloon Coal Measures and is similar to other Walloon coal deposits mined at Jeebropilly. For more information click here.
